Koshi no Kanbai connects the world beyond the sky.

This product is for overseas consumers and limited to Duty Free shops and export. It uses only Koshitanrei rice, a new variety developed specifically for Niigata Prefecture, a region known for its high-quality rice. Harmonizing rich flavors and a perfect, clean finish, we offer this junmai daiginjo as a way to enjoy the true delights and flavors of sake.

Hope for a new cycle.

The phrase "banri ikku" comes from samurai Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings, which dates back to the Edo Period. It means, "No matter how far you travel, the sky is one, and connects the world." We named our sake after it in hopes that it would create a new cycle for sake: that people will gather around it and enjoy rich experiences under the same sky, transcending the seas and national borders. Moreover, that people will encounter and enjoy this delicious sake, find happiness, and someday visit Niigata. Sake is a communication tool that can connect people, whether or not they are drinking. We will continue to improve ourselves and make Banri Ikku a bridge to connect sake, Japanese culture, and Niigata to people around the world.

Tasting notes by sommelier Shinya Tasaki

Aroma

It gives a soft and elegant impression, with rice-derived aromas at the core, with a subtle elegant touch. It combines refined fragrance resembling rice dumplings or rice flour, with scents reminiscent of almond milk, fresh milk, and heavy cream. Additionally, it expresses mild fruity aromas like bananas and lychees, and the subtle floral scents of linden and honeysuckle flowers, further enhancing its elegant impression.

Flavor

From the first impression, there is an expanding delicate, soft, and full-bodied sense. Following impressions sustain the softness, with a smoothness created through maturation, resulting in an overall balance that lingers into the aftertaste. The after-flavor also retains a creamy sensation containing flavors reminiscent of banana cream and banana parfait.

Drinking Recommendations

To better enjoy the creaminess, drink it at around 10-12°C like a fine white wine.

Pairing Recommendations

This sake lifts the flavors of the dishes and adds vibrance, creaminess, and smoothness.
